President Jakaya
Kikwete will be among competitors in Uhuru marathon expected to e
staged in Dares Salaam on December 8, the event’s organizers have
confirmed.
The event’s coordinator Innocent Melleck said
President Kikwete will be given registration form number one before
the Speaker of National Assembly Anne Makinda gets the
second.
Kikwete like most of the big shots expected to turn
out for the event will cover a distance of three kilometers.
Melleck
also confirmed that CHADEMA’s chairman and MP for Hai constituency
Freeman Mbowe is also lined up for the event.
So far the
coordinator said registration forms are available and will be a
special attraction at the Tanzanian Parliament building in Dodoma
next week.
The registration forms are available at a price
depending on the distance preferred by a competitor.
The
bottom line for the event is to nurse the prevailing peace, enhance
cooperation and solidarity in the country.
The first edition was
staged last year.
Winner of December event will be entitled to
3.5m/-for the 42-kilometer race that has attracted other competent
foreign athletes.
