Authorities in Kisarawe
District, Coast Region, have allocated 180 acres to nine local
businessmen to set up industries, hotels and warehouses.
Dr Kisamo Minja, acting
chairman of the district investment desk, told the district full
council meeting in Kisarawe town yesterday that they have approved
their applications.
He said that all of
them had business licenses and were ready to incur the cost of
surveying as well as payment for compensations according to the law.
Minja said the
investors included Said Salim Bakhresa & Company limited who is
seeking 20 acres for construction of industries and GKZ for building
materials seeking 20 acres for the construction of an industry.
Others are Murzah Oils
ltd who applied for 25 acres for the same purpose as well as Al-Naeem
Enterprises Ltd who applied for 25 acres for industrial purposes.
For their part, Embe
Dodo Hotel and the Chef, each applied for 20 acres for the
construction of modern hotels.
The Islamic Foundation
of Sheikhs and Scholars of Tanzania have applied for 20 acres to
construct a college, hospital, drilling deep wells and construction
of business and residential buildings.
MEBCO Ltd has applied
for 10 acres to build a ware house and Dar es Salaam Motors &
Commission Agent Limited has applied for 20 acres where they would
have warehouse for motor vehicle spare parts.
Dr Minja said the
district was processing the applications for plots to begin their
projects. “It is possible the investors would soon start
constructing the industries, hotels, ware houses as far as they
agreed to incur all the costs of surveying, payment compensation
according to the law,” he said.
Earlier, the District
Plan Officer, Melkion Komba, told the full council that they had
received more than 20 applications for investing in hotels,
industries and transport.
The applications were
being crutinised at different stages and the decision would be
implemented according to President Jakaya Kikwete’s directives
delivered during a six-day visit to the region.
The President had
directed authorities in Kisarawe, Bagamoyo, Mkuranga and Kibaha to
set aside plots for industrial investment.
